Check out the work from photographer Braylen Dion as he breaks down Black stereotypes with his art.
Braylen Dion uses nature to enhance his photography and to showcase a side of African Americans culture that is not often shown. More often than not, when African Americans are depicted in society, they are shown under one stereotype. Braylen offers a different point of view. There are African Americans who feel best represented and connected to a soft aesthetic. Music, nature, and intimacy for some captures their life experiences visually and helps to shape their story and narrative. Dion is a forced to be reckoned with. He shows a different perspective and African American story though his photography.

Need Something to Eat?
You cant talk about culture, without talking about food!! food is commonly tied to the African American culture, and is ever changing. There are new recipes, ideas, spins on old recipes, and so much more creatively being added to the list of Black recipes. However, there are some who like to stick to the classics and believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Whatever your preferred style of African American cuisine is, there is something for everybody!!

Social media is a great connector and the Instagram pages that post about the Black culture offer the viewer an opportunity of connection. Blackness is multifaceted. There are many different personalities, ideas, and narratives within the culture and this list of content creators offers a diverse selection of content creators to follow. They each give their own flair and vibrancy to whatever social media platforms they are on, but they also give the viewer a chance to see different aspects of the African American culture.

Girls in film is a completely open and raw platform that does the much needed work of empowering women and creatives. When talking about African American culture, it would be incomplete and inaccurate to forget to highlight the women in the culture. In America, many in society fit into various demographics and Girls in Film has been great in supporting both the Black and the female communities. It is also interesting to read about aspects of the Black culture in a females perspective.
